Oil-Free Hummus

Serves: around six

Gluten-Free, Soy-Free, Oil-Free, Nut-Free, Vegan (of course!)

Most store-bought hummus have oil as one of the ingredients; however, I do not see the need for oil in hummus. This hummus is delicious, creamy, and lower in fat than your average hummus.

Ingredients:

  • One BPA-free can of chickpeas*
  • Two tbsp. of tahini
  • Juice from one lemon
  • Two tsp. of cumin
  • One to two garlic cloves
  • 1/4 of a cup water as needed to blend
  • Salt and pepper to taste

How to make:

  1. Drain and rinse** the chickpeas.
  2. Add all of the ingredients into a food-processor or high-speed blender and blend until smooth and creamy!
  3. Enjoy!

*For best digestion and consistency, remove the husks from the chickpeas before blending.

**Rinsing your chickpeas will remove the excess starch; moreover, doing this will help with your digestion because the starch can cause bloating and stomach discomfort.
